The Fort McMurray Fringe Festival is back for its third year on August 29 & 30!
This year’s celebration of bold, fearless art features three theatrical performances from local and visiting artists, alongside plenty of creativity throughout the weekend.
We’re excited to be partnering with Keyano Theatre this year to bring our Fringe performances to the Keyano Theatre Main Stage!
The festival also sees the return of the ever-popular Summer Makers Market, presented by Arts Council Wood Buffalo at kiyām Community Park, featuring local vendors and live busker performances.
Whether you’re joining us for a show, exploring the market, or catching a performance in the park, come celebrate the artists who make Fort McMurray Fringe a one-of-a-kind experience.
Ticket sales are now live!
The line up
Bimbos Save the World is an improvised late night musical playback show. Each night new changemakers get into bed with Quetzala Carson to talk love, sex, and changing the world. The Intersectional Improv Ensemble and Band transforms these stories into songs and scenes. Check @bimbossavetheworld to see who’s staying up with us tonight!
Grizzly lake (based on a true story) is an original play by Samson Nand and Brodie Dransutavicius. Part comedy, part slasher, Grizzly lake tells the story of a lakeside getaway turned nightmare when four friends encounter a mysterious masked killer. Blending campy horror with laugh-out-loud comedy, this Friday the 13th-inspired spoof is a bloody good time!
Saturn Return is a solo musical about a pop star who sells his soul to the devil in order to become famous— only to be dragged to the underworld to atone for his actions. The past, present, and future collide as he faces trials unimaginable in the depths of Hell, and the people he left behind to become famous.
Elon Muskrat is the world’s first Indigenous trillionaire and he is here to CUT YOU A DEAL! He’s designed a beautiful Indigenous casino for sale, and YOU could be the lucky buyer! From Anishinaabe playwright Josh Languedoc, this blend of stand up comedy, dance, and oral story telling will make you laugh while challenging your mind.
Past Fringe
The Fort McMurray Fringe Festival is an annual celebration of unexpected, homegrown art.
The 2025 Festival took place on September 6 & 7. It included festival grounds at kiyām Community Park, which saw over 150 people come through to shop from artists, attend workshops, watch live performances at the busker stage, and enjoy the vibes.
The Festival also included a lineup of three local productions, which were performed at the Stonebridge Hotel.
Fort McMurray Fringe Festival 2025 was made possible by the support of Arts Council Wood Buffalo, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, and the Government of Alberta. The Festival Grounds at kiyām Community Park were presented as a part of Alberta Culture Days. The entire Festival was proudly presented as a part of the Month of the Artist.
The Fort McMurray Fringe Festival is a recognised member of the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals (CAFF), following the guiding principles that make a Fringe what it is. We are committed to maintaining the international standards established by CAFF, while also creating a festival that honours the local arts ecosystem in Wood Buffalo.
